Marriage to J.

When she picked dried noodles off plates and sopped the water off the counter and then gathered garbage to go out tomorrow, the knowledge of being paid, rewarded that night, made it ok, made her able to organize, adhere to the stuffed hamper, peel clothes out of it, wash wash wash clean and fold then iron out money for the month and determine the best time for the call, the plea for help, pathetic–at least as much as she could make it sound that way–well, the night would negate this and she knew this, and she made her boy lie down.
