Leslie’s Light

Leslie’s Light

A door opens.

Light sheets the wet–

only leafless poles of shadow trunks

betray the murk of algae-ridden depths.

Near the door

a mix of leaves–

daubs of green gray green yellow gold,

some feathering the water.

Then green gray green green black

at a distance from the door

to a far flat field of murk

of lessening, lessening light.
